What the heck is going on with UFOs? (Part 2)
It appears as if the Intelligence Community is up to their usual shenanigans with respect to aliens but now the scale and volume have been cranked up to 11. I have a theory as to why.
Important Note: If you didn’t read Part 1 of this series please do so first by clicking the link below.
The Galileo Project
If you were a scientist/engineer and earnestly wanted to know if technology of an artificial origin were visiting our solar system and planet then The Galileo Project would be the obvious straight-forward project you would design and build.
In July 2021, Avi Loeb launched this initiative. The summary of the project is to design, build and install sensors all over the globe designed to constantly monitor the sky in the optical, infrared and radar. It is also designed to record sound. All of the data collected is then processed with the aid of machine-learning algorithms in a hunt for anomalous signals. In addition to the sensors, the project also aims to continue to identify and study near-Earth interstellar visitors.
If you did not want civilians to have a very clear picture of all movements across the entire sky, I imagine a massive network of these things would NOT be something you would be too excited about. Similarly, if you did not want civilians to be the first to discover and intercept potential extraterrestrial technology, I imagine you would also NOT want them focused on near-Earth interstellar visitors.
As far as I know, only one of these telescope systems is in operation right now. It is on the roof of the Harvard Observatory. But like I said, the goal is for them to be installed all over the place, provided sufficient funding.
More on Chris Mellon
Chris Mellon is an interesting guy. His Joe Rogan Experience appearance is pretty entertaining and I recommend checking it out. If the family name sounds familiar it’s probably because his great-great-grandfather Thomas Mellon founded Mellon Bank. Or maybe you’ve heard of Carnegie Mellon University. Yup, same Mellons. The guy is loaded.
As far as professional credentials go, I’ll let Mr. Mellon’s own bio blurb from a recent article speak for itself:
Yup, you read that first sentence correctly. Mr. Mellon is now a research affiliate with The Galileo Project. At some point after the release of the New York Times articles I highlight in Part 1 of this series, and the resulting media buzz, he seems to have wound down his involvement with the To The Stars Academy and began some form of a relationship with Professor Loeb’s new project. I’m fuzzy on the historical details of TTSA. I was aware of it at the time but wasn’t very interested because it seemed like a silly organization to me. But I believe it played some sort of a role in the dissemination of the UAP videos you may be familiar with, i.e. FLIR, GIMBAL, and GOFAST. Apparently these videos were given to Mr. Mellon by an unnamed individual in the Pentagon parking lot. Very cloak-and-dagger/deep-throat vibe. While Mr. Mellon doesn’t seem like a canonical spook, he does appear to be somewhat spook-adjacent.
As far as what Mr. Mellon’s role with the project consists of we have this blurb from the announcement:
This announcement was made prior to Professor Loeb’s announcement that the project will launch an expedition to the South Pacific in an attempt to retrieve whatever remains of Interstellar Meteor 1 (IM1) so it is unclear to me what role if any he may have with that specific effort. We’ll talk more about that expedition in a bit.
Now I don’t think Mr. Mellon (nor Mr. Elizondo) are “in on it.” Like I said in Part 1, I don’t think anyone in a public-facing role will be. There’s a lot of risk in that to the operation. What if they slip up in an interview? Also someone like Mr. Mellon doesn’t need to go on podcasts and lie for a living. Is he really going to risk tarnishing his prestigious family’s name and legacy to sell a disinformation operation to Joe Rogan listeners? That seems very unlikely to me. I think he believes what he’s saying and is working in earnest to bring about disclosure. But I wonder if there’s a chance he’s being manipulated to misunderstand what he’s advocating to disclose. Perhaps he’s been nudged to champion the disclosure of a narrative being written somewhere deeper in the intelligence world vs. reality. More on that later.
Recovered craft/reverse engineering
This season the hot trend in UFO/UAP talk is recovered crafts, reverse engineering and “metamaterials.” None of this stuff is new though, rather it’s been a standard fixture of UFO lore for decades.
Maybe you’ve caught a podcast or two featuring this guy:
I’m not going to get into his story. You can look him up. I’m just trying to emphasize this general plot line has been around for a long ass time. But recently there has been a much more intense focus.
The above headline is from a recent Politico article written by Mr. Mellon published on June 3rd 2023. Part of this very interesting article consists of a plea to would-be government whistleblowers to come forward because efforts similar to The Galileo Project are going to discover what’s going on anyway. Another interesting synchronicity.
The most recent and most fantastic development in this saga yet is the case of whistleblower David Grusch, described as an officer of the United States Intelligence Community. Remember the two New York Times articles I credit with launching this entire operation in Part 1 of this series? Two of the three authors of those articles, Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, dropped an “atomic bomb” yesterday with their article on Mr. Grusch in The Debrief. It’s my understanding The Washington Post had the opportunity to run this story but in the interest of time and not being scooped the authors opted for another venue.
The substance of Mr. Grusch’s story is that evidence of partial/complete recovered alien crafts and alien biological beings has been withheld from Congress. He gave sworn testimony to this effect. I encourage you to read the entire article.
You can also watch a clip of him speaking for himself here:
I do not think Mr. Grusch is “in on it.” Again, he’s too public-facing. I believe he believes everything he’s saying. My understanding though, is that he is primarily relaying information provided by others and Congress has not been provided with physical materials related to any crash/crafts.
South Pacific expedition
Up until this point in the saga, the only physical evidence of anything unusual I’m aware of being made public are the three videos procured by Mr. Mellon. The Galileo Project is now offering the possibility of the proverbial “nail in the coffin.”
As I alluded to previously, Professor Loeb has announced the project will be traveling to the South Pacific sometime this summer to retrieve the remnants of IM1. Although named Interstellar Meteor 1, the thought is this object may not actually be a rock at all but rather a piece of alien technology.
Now fully funded, the expedition intends to use a magnetic sled to comb a sub-1 square kilometer area of the sea floor in a search for fragments. If it were to find other-worldly artificial material, or evidence of alien technology, that would be it. We would finally know for absolute certain we are not alone in the universe.
Tying it all together
I suspect elements in the Intelligence Community began closely monitoring Professor Loeb’s work shortly after the discovery of ‘Oumuamua based on his early speculation that the object was not natural. These elements simultaneously began laying the groundwork for a disinformation operation to defend against a possible rapid knowledge spill-over concerning the nature of interstellar objects that routinely impact Earth. Public facing figures in the intelligence/defense realm were perhaps unknowingly leveraged for this effort. The operation intensified more recently following the discovery of IM1 and the announcement that a recovery would be attempted.
I think there is roughly a 0% chance the United States Government would forgo the opportunity to be the first to collect a potential technological relic from an advanced alien civilization. Although the odds are low, such an object (or fragment(s) thereof) could potentially reveal technology that could provide a significant asymmetric advantage in warfare. A failure to investigate such a site should probably be considered gross negligence.
My suspicion is the USG has already investigated this site. It’s unclear to me if it would have done so prior to Professor Loeb’s discovery of IM1. But I believe the government has long been aware of interstellar object impacts on Earth — and that many of these objects are artificial in origin. I would guess they probably became aware of this sometime in the late 1940s. This could very well be the single reason for all of the related disinformation/debunking operations of the last 80 years.
My suspicion is the final act of this most recent disinformation operation will be to stage a hoax object at the site which The Galileo Project will then unwittingly retrieve. The project may temporarily be duped into believing it has succeeded (unlikely, IMO) but even assuming it’s not tricked and they properly detect the hoax immediately, the media and Twitterrati spin will be ruthless. The intent will be to make a mockery of the project and dry up any future funding from would-be private donors. No more vast civilian sensor network. No more risk of civilians discovering that alien technology is literally falling from the sky all the time.
The recent hype until this point, using a reboot of a decades-old narrative, would have served to invigorate congressional, public and media interest in a very specific but counterfactual version of the “recovered craft” narrative only to then destroy it via the ultimate embarrassing cosmic rug pull. If alien technology is coming to Earth it is extremely unlikely it’s being piloted by biological entities or angels or demons or whatever nonsense. As Professor Loeb argues, it would much more likely come piloted by AI.
The interesting thing about this theory is it will be tested in the coming months and we can all see how things play out. I think The Galileo Project is a brilliant idea and hope for it and Professor Loeb’s success and that I’m wrong about this. But this is the only coherent theory I can think of given all of the available evidence.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this theory.
Edit: I’ve added an addendum (Part 2b) below to hopefully clarify a few details.
